Nostalgic About Those Hot Neon Days

SUNNIES (Fendi, $200). NEON JACKET (Zara, $59.90). NECKLACE (Ebay, $15). CROPPED TOP (Topshop, $20). SKIRT (Zara, $29.90). CLUTCH (H&M, $25). HEELS (Zara, $49.90).

When the weather gets horridly frigid, I like to look back into the summer days of warmth (where we are still insatiable and we complain about how hot it is). This look was one of my favourites from the summer heat. I’m not going to lie, at first I was not the hugest fan of the neon trend – something about it always reminded me of those crazy 90s workout leggings. Neither was I a fan of the whole nomcore look of tying sweaters around my waist. Clearly my entire attitude changed… I guess that’s how trends get to you.

Something about this almost obnoxiously loud neon green blazer got me tingling. Pairing it up with bright whites and a comfs-skirt got me warming up to the whole blinding-pilon stigma I had against neon. Styling this look made me remember that sometimes trends are trends for a reason and instead of fighting it, we should all just learn to accept and adapt to it (this philosophy has since been applied to things outside of just style).

As mainstream as it is, Zara got me inspired for this look – naturally, most of this look was shopped at Zara. Their blazers and jackets are some of the only ones I can find that fit my awkwardly lanky arms and not like a balloon at the same time. The chunky necklace was a no-brainer for me and was shopped online off Ebay. Its quirkiness was originally what drew me to it – but it happened to also be the perfect hue to compliment the neon blazer. The blue clutch, as clashy as it is, was my vision of the perfect pairing… two things that would normally hate each other, but just work.

All hail life lessons from fashion.

What are your thoughts on the neon trend? Or “style trends” entirely, for that matter? Let me know in the comments below!
