The Reason Behind This Japanese-Canadian Outfit

Alright, don’t get me wrong, I typically classify myself as a pretty independent woman. I never dreamt of being saved by a prince, my mother always taught me to stand on my own two feet, and for a long time, I even swore off boys/men so that I could focus on my career.

But, as you all know, these things tend to change when you meet someone. For me, it was when I met Dave. He completely and utterly threw my program for a loop. And now, 6 years later, we do just about everything together… including this blog.

This week, it was time for Dave to leave for his bi-annual/annual Japan trip. It’s typically his boys’ trip, so I’m not “allowed to go” (although what would happen if I just showed up, I wonder? haha) When he goes away to Japan, and even though he’s done it every year for basically our entire relationship, his leaving and absence still gets my tummy in a knot.

Why though? Mel, you don’t need a man rememb-ah?!

Yeah well, that’s life and those funny things called emotions right? It’s completely illogical and that’s just the way it goes. I’m spending the week focussing on being really productive… and keeping busy. If you’re ever in this boat (no matter how hard or logically you try and fight the feeling), keeping busy is a great help!

Truthfully, I used to beat myself up about feeling this way, but now I embrace it. It’s just a bi-product of how much you love someone (not to confused with suffocating someone though. I’ve dialed down my Facetiming for the record haha).

Missing someone is completely natural. So I’m dedicating this outfit to the feeling. The denim on denim is an ode to the true Canadian Tuxedo  and the oversized denim kimono is an ode to Japan. Full outfit details below, friends!

You all know how much I love Le Chateau heels – comfy, on-trend, and easy to pair with everything. These are a statement and I couldn’t leave the store without them, for obvious reasons. And they were the perfect pair to announce my new 2017 ambassadorship with them for a 2nd year in a row! I love my Le Chateau family.

WATCH & CLUTCH

TRIWA, LE CHATEAU

On the topic of ambassadorships, I’m also super excited to announce that I’ll be embarking on my first timepiece ambassadorship with one of my favourite watch companies, Triwa. My 2 favourite watches in my entire 33 watch collection, is from Triwa, including this gold beauty and silver mesh bracelet that are #newin.

I know, this classic clutch looks like Celine right? Nope, picked it up for less than 10% at Le Chateau (where I get basically all my accessories).

So Dave gets home on Wednesday – and I know I know, that’s it Mel? Suck it up buttercup. I agree… but if anyone’s looking for me, I’ll be editing something or another, or in front of my Sex And The City re-runs! Thanks for reading and keeping me company friends.
