Why The Slide Trend Is Coming In Strong

What is a slide exactly? I feel like people have different definitions for this glorious term. I consider it any sort of footwear that allows to seamlessly slip my foot in and go… oh, and it must be comfortable. One is not a slide unless it is comfortable. Mark me haha

Glad we got that out of the way. Now onto my love for these said slides (ok ok, I know they’re mules, but let’s just slide them into the slides category… see what I did there haha)

I do consider a heeled sandal (without straps) to be slides. It gives me that same comfort, and let me tell you how some of my heeled slides are more comfortable than my ballerina flats…

I mean, I think there’s something liberating about letting your toes dance

… especially if you’re like me and live in a country that requires you to wear winter boots for 60% of the year. I love you, Canada. But with summer season coming in strong, I am welcoming in my slides, old and new, with arms out.
As we see athleisure climb the ranks of trends to stay, I think the slide philosophy is also here to make a permanent splash. And for that, I am forever grateful to the Style Gods. Naturally, proclaiming the slide trend, meant that I had to up my game this season… and you might as well call me Mel-okemon, because I am collecting them all. e

Kicking off the season with these 2 new must haves that I’m obsessed with – red and gold baby, red and gold all day.

RED

BARELY THERE

I’m having a major red moment right now. I know red is a classic, but I veered away from the colour for so long. I’m sorry, red, I’m back and I’ll love you forever.

MESHY NUDE

Metallics have had my heart since I can remember – shiny, sparkly… basically everything a girl wants. These mesh babies show just enough skin and sparkle all at the same time.

Naturally, I picked both of these up at one of my Canadian favs – Le Chateau. Their shoes, but ESPECIALLY their slides are some of the comfiest in my (pretty extensive) collection. My lack of blisters can attest to this. And for less than $70 for each pair, I’m thinking of picking up a few others (a girl needs all of the colours, right?)

But with it starting to become acceptable to wear socks and slides… I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts on this topic is. I am all for whatever makes you feel comfortable… and if it means you’re also stylish and badass, well, it’s a win-win.

Here’s to sliding into summer in both comfort and style friends!
