WMCFW REHASH: Day 2 & My Barney Sweater

Day 2 of WMCFW was a day I was definitely looking forward to – mostly because two of my favourites, literally since they first began showing, were presenting their collections: Narces and Melissa Nepton. Both have crafted their aesthetics so perfectly and are still able to seamlessly find a way to change it up each season. I personally have 3 Narces dresses and have found ample occasions to wear them (so much better than the average go-to party-dress stores). I have yet to pick up a Melissa Nepton piece but these sweater-mitten contraptions she created this season are probably going to change that. For my WMCFW Day 2 look, I guess I was feeling the “warm-cold” ensemble (this is when girls wear one piece of very warm clothing to compensate for the lack of warmth in another piece). Naturally, my pieces were boldly colour blocked with a heavy, over-sized knit sweater and a flared out skirt.

The knit sweater was super warm, so I was glad I listened to my boyfriend and picked it up for a whopping $10.00 at the H&M sale. It ended up receiving the name “Barney Sweater” from my team (because it literally made me look like big purple dinosaur)… and I’m okay with it. I mean, I was a fan of Barney when I was growing up, why not rep him for the second day of WMCFW? thumbs up

Day 2 WMCFW Runway Rehash & My Favs

What was my take away from Day 2 of WMCFW? Black, black, and lots and lots of black. Not that there’s anything wrong with this or anything but it’s nice to see a bit of a change and innovation for the fall/winter seasons. Melissa Nepton definitely changed it up – showing her light pastel palette but with chunky knits and greys. I also applaud her repeatedly for making sweats look so incredibly cool (woot woot #sweatpant trend clap emoji). The collection looked incredibly fresh, smart, and WARM!

My favourite piece of the entire day was this sweater-mitten thing by Nepton, that came down the runway in a couple different variations. I need it in my closet, like yesterday. How comfy does this look?!  137-information-desk-person

Narces obviously didn’t disappoint. Frilly tutu-ed dresses, transparent panels, and feminine strength were all over the entire collection. I ate it all up and have my list of To-Buys ready to go!

Helder Diego is fresh on the WMCFW scene and his debut was beautiful. This caped dress was particularly my fav, very circa 2012 Gwenyth Paltrow x Tom Ford.
