WMCFW REHASH: Day 4 & Vibrant Feelings

Fashion equates to complete ignorance to the cold (or maybe purposeful ignorance). I see fashion as a type of metaphor for life – to take chances, risk it big, and work hard for something great. So check to freezing butts off in the cold, wearing loud colours, and sporting that socks and platform look.  At least that’s what I decided to channel for Day 4 of WMCFW. I’m a huge fan of structure and shape in pieces so this dress stood out to me on the Sale rack (yes, it was on sale… and only $30 at H&M at that).

I’m all for splurging on pieces but we all know those #bloggerproblems and feeling like we can’t wear the same outfit twice, hence the cheap steals. I loved the movement in the dress and cobalt blue is a personal fav, so it was a clear BUY! decision.

Metallic accessories are such great friends to a wardrobe. They basically match everything and give a modern twist to any look. The socks were an after-thought; but tbh the choice to do socks and platforms for WMCFW was more about keeping my toes warm than anything. Shhhh monkey emoji. The fact that the trend is also a fashion misfit was just a bonus.

Day 4 WMCFW Runway Rehash & My Favs

Day 4 was especially exciting for me because, like most proud Canadians, I absolutely adore Rudsak, who was closing the day off. Aside from Rudsak, there were some really killer (and interesting) collections that strutted down the runway, new and old.

Kania kicked the day off with a super positive vibe. Although I wasn’t a huge fan of a lot of the sweaters (they looked just a little unsettled, if that makes sense) and the fact that they were just paired with stockings, the collection was full of life, fun, and vibrancy. This was my favourite look (definitely that sweats-chic look); but what really got me smiling was when the designer paraded down the runway with her pearly whites and contagious charisma. She danced, hopped, and showed the crowd that no matter what we thought she was having the time of her life. For that, I applaud immensely! clap emoji

Hilary Macmillan always presents an effortless collection; and when I say effortless, I mean super luxurious and detail oriented. It was also drool-central for all minimalists out there. The sleek lines and well tailored pieces had you wanting to dip your hair in a bucket of water and get up in these pieces wink emoji .

Can one ski with more swag than this? Mmm, I think not. Lole presented for the first time at WMCFW and they hit it out of the ballpark. Despite the fact that the models seemed really confused with the crazy runway choreography, the series of collections really made you want to start doing more yoga (and health-related activities) just to wear these ensembles.

Farley Chatto was all about dat fur, fur, and more fur. I’m admittedly a huge fan of fur and love the history that stands behind wearing fur (PETA rejoice in your hatred towards me. I’m sorry). Some of the pieces looked really dramatic and, some would argue, too theatrical, but I think that what was made clear was that Farley Chatto is an amazing fourier.

Soia and Kyo lived up to everything it normally is, which is a lot of warmth. Warm tones, accessible outerwear, and effortless chic was the game for them. Neutrals were a big theme; and for me, well I’m automatically happy whenever a brand spices up Canadian winter dressing. We all know how drab it can be. This hooded piece is a prime example of that Canadian chill flare that I’m pointing to!

Rudsak proved once again what a Canadian trophy it is. Although most of the pieces were only slight changes from their basic parkas, their innovation with outerwear is still so admirable. They don’t hesitate to push the lines – again, showing that Canadians, even in negative 30 degree weather, they can still look super chic. These low-high parkas were my favourite. Despite the fact that it looks like some nasty wind chills would get caught up in there, I yearn for it in my closet… maybe in the black though (because those of you who know me, know I’m the messiest eater/drinker of life) monkey emoji.
