Having been a “working girl” (not a prostitute, but just a girl who works) for quite a handful of years now, I’ve learned that being a woman in a job or industry that’s dominated by men is a very interesting experience. I wouldn’t say I’ve had any real hardships, discrimination, or bitter moments, but as a woman, you definitely feel different than your male colleagues. And as much as I applaud peaceful feminist movements and am all for gender equality, I think there’s something to be said about embracing that difference as a positive thing instead of a negative thing.
Embracing your feminine badass side is a huge part of holding your ground and keeping your voice heard, I think. Sometimes we try really hard to be “men” but really, we just need to make a bigger footnote as women. I have so much respect for established women who really do it all (boys, I also respect you, but this is about girl power) – they juggle babies, careers, deal with bleeding every month. Women are super heroes, and being a feminine badass is all about confidently demonstrating this!
No need to be a man. Just be you, a woman who can do it, maybe not the same way as a man, but can do it just as effectively. This “feminine badass” philosophy was definitely the inspiration behind this outfit.
I recently posted a while ago about how moto jackets give me power [ click for the article ], and make me feel confident and strong. So it was fitting to style my Rudsak Moto jacket for this look too. It gave the super feminine dress and lace crop top an edgier feel but ironically didn’t clash. I felt it like it really spoke to the harmony of a feminine badass
I wanted to have the outfit really speak not to females doing their thing, competing with the men in their field, but rather embracing their femininity and using it as a strength. Being a woman, despite the figures of analytical reports, is not a disadvantage, unless you let it be one. It’s a whole set of advantages that most people just aren’t really used to yet
It’s a shame to hide behind the thick exterior of trying to be a man or do the things they do, the way they do it. Being a feminine badass means that you carve your own road. You don’t hide behind anything and you don’t apologize for being who you are… because you’re badass.
And the best thing about being a feminine badass, comfortable in your skin and strong footed in who you are and what you stand for? You can shed those layers and really embrace what it means to you to be feminine. Whether that’s sporty a gold lacy top or indulging in a pedicure on your lunch break, you get to be you, not a man, not a front, just you.
This goes out to everyone on the feminine badass team. You ladies are my super heroes. And to those still finding their inner feminine badass, I can’t wait to see the amazing things you put out into this world!
What makes you feel like a feminine badass? Do you believe in this philosophy?
