Thanks to lovely hair experts around the world, we now know that washing your hair every day religiously is actually bad for your hair. So WOOHOO! We get to skip the hour long blow dries for a couple extra days and be proud of our no-wash day counts: “it’s been like 4 days since I washed my hair”
I’ll admit, as much as I do love not having to go through the process of washing and styling my hair every day, it just doesn’t look as fluffy, y’know? I actually plan special events, where I know my hair will be down, around my hair-wash-cycle.
I’ve never been a crazy hair fanatic (like those awe-inspiring Youtubers who can create a Picasso with their hair). I’m much more for those lazy hair day routines. So when I received Kerastase’s Book of Braids, I’ll admit I was hesitant to get my hands working.
I chose 3 incredibly easy braid tutorials, that ended up looking so much better than I thought, to share with you! Trust me, if I can do it, you’ll laugh at how easy it is for you.

For those romantic nights…
Whenever I used to see these sort of braid crown “easy braid tutorials” I always used to think: “pffft, easy my butt, there’s no way creating a crown out of your hair is easy” But it really was the easiest whip up.

For that messy-but-put-together look…
When I first learned how to do a fish tail braid, I literally screamed – mostly because it always looked so difficult but when I actually did it, I didn’t know why I was so scared to ever try it in the first place. It looks so cool and, when loosened up, looks effortlessly chic!

For the new “business in the front, party in the back” look …
From the front, you look like you’re just chillin’ with a top knot, but guuuurrrl, when they see your backside, all eyes will be on you. I love the subtlety of this look. It’s got a real effortless vibe to it! It’s a bit harder to perfect, but with practice, you’ll be defaulting to this look on the daily.

For looking impressive at special events …
This braided look, I’ll be honest, is a bit hard to perfect without another set of hands or a great pair of mirrors. I included it because it’s just so damn pretty (and actually isn’t that hard – but for a hair noob like myself, it’s takes a bit of practice). Who needs a hair stylist for those special occassions when you can do it yourself

A BIG TIP for any of the easy braid tutorials here is to make sure you use to right product to set your hair up for braided success. If your hair is super squeaky clean (no product in it) it’ll fall out of the braid a lot easier.
I used the Kerastase Matérialiste All-Over Thickening Spray Gel (to keep my looks voluminous and full), the Spray À Porter (to give my hair a bit of wave), and the Laque Noir (one of my favourite hairsprays).
All these products might be a little more expensive than you normally spend, but the amount that you need to use is so much less and it actually lasts you forever!
Would love to know if these easy braid tutorials worked for you and your hair. Let me know in the comments how easy they were and if there are any other braided looks you love!
