You work hard, you’re always on the go, you’ve got your goals and priorities in check, and yet, you seem to never have a moment to enjoy the fruits of your labor. I think this is the story of a lot of hard workers (or rather, workaholics) out there. It’s easy to get caught up in the cycle of always moving on to the next thing to do on the list, but when you think about it, what’s the point in doing all of that if you don’t get to enjoy it?
For this look, I wanted to kind of symbolize the happy balance between working hard and enjoying the fruits of your labor (I know you see the cheese with the kiwi printed shirt ). It was meant to be passable for work (at least in a non-super-corporatey environment) and still super fun.
I probably have the biggest closet of blazers you could ever imagine. They’re all basically the same cut (as I find only some cuts of blazers look good on me), but in a ridiculous multitude of colours. #IHaveAProblem but y’know what, I feel like enjoying the fruits of your labor means you’re allowed to have a problem like over-buying blazers
There’s just something about putting on a blazer that makes you feel like a #boss, doesn’t it? I feel like it’s an automatic symbol of sophistication and a lot of “yeah, you better take me seriously” – obviously speaking to the “work hard” aspect of this post.
As always, I’m totally loving pastels for the spring-summer. They’re just so soft, feminine, and playful. This colour combo is a clear demonstration of my addiction to colour blocking. I totally love the scallop trim of these shorts too – they speak to never taking yourself, or your shorts , too seriously.
Dirty Little Secret: sometimes I try and tone down my use of colours to do the neutrals thing, but can never seem to get myself to commit to it. What’s life without colour right?!
The kiwi shirt is obviously the centrepiece of this post about “fruits of your labor” haha no duh right? It actually has a bit of a story behind it too. It’s actually from a t-shirt collaboration between blogger, Lovely Pepa, and ELuxe. When I first saw it at the ELuxe sample sale, I had no idea but thought the the print was incredibly cute. When I went home and realized that it was from the collaboration, I felt so proud to have contributed at least in the tiniest way to another bloggers’ successes.
I feel like this shirt totally encompasses what it means to enjoy the fruits of your labor. It’s basically the embodiment of passion, hard work, and fun all in one project. I’m probably reading way too much into what this shirt was really meant to mean, which is probably just kiwis; but for those who read my blog, you’ll know I’m a huge cheese ball.
At the end of the day, I think what’s important is: 1) don’t do something you hate – you should love what you do, 2) be proud of what you do and what you’ve accomplished, and 3) never work too hard where you never get to enjoy what you’re working hard for. Enjoy those fruits of your labor ! Figure out what it is that you’re really working for and dwell on that happiness for a minute, would ya? (I’m telling myself the same thing)
How do you enjoy the fruits of your labor?
