Ever wake up some days and kind of wish you were a kid again? Wait. That was too easy of a question – who wouldn’t want daily nap times and sing alongs. Sometimes I wake up and kind of wish I could just throw on my every day school outfit, which was my uniform, and go. Not that I don’t enjoy styling my outfits every day, but I actually really liked my green-kilt uniform. Not to mention it saved me so much time in the morning.
The inspiration behind this look was definitely a grown up school outfit and an ode to those days when we were carefree kids, who just cared about having fun!
I was a frenchy (i.e. loved my French classes, which are mandatory in Canada, and took every French exchange I could), so the Ca Va? shirt from J Crew was a no brainer BUY! I’m a huge fan of t-shirts, but sometimes they can look a little blah, so I styled it with a studded collared blouse for this grown up school outfit look.
Back in the day, the coolest things you wore to school were your sneakers – remember when Phat Farms were cool? Yeah. So my modern day translation are these tri-colour New Balances.
And who can really call their outfit a school outfit without the shiniest, flashiest, backpack you could find? This keeper is actually a go-to work bag of mine because it’s actually made for laptops. It’s made by iSkin and I’m all for anything that keeps my technology safe and sound .. or else WTH would I blog with?
And last but not least, who could forget that charm bracelet trend we all went through! First it was those link things that always pulled on your arm hairs, then it was the Juicy charm bracelets, then it was Tiffany’s (although I still love my Tiffany’s charms ), then came Pandora, and I’m sure the list will continue to go on and on. Charm bracelets just have this effect that automatically makes them covetable. Maybe it’s the meanings they carry? I’m all for jewelry with meaning, as you know
These stacked pieces are from Tiffany’s (the small beaded bracelet) and Alex and Ani. If you’ve never heard of Alex and Ani – make sure to check them out. They’re all about positive vibes and stackable bracelets with meanings. This one is the Endless Knot Bangle, which represents wisdom, compassion, and destiny – to remind you that life’s journey winds in with faith. IT’S LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR ME RIGHT?! I love it.
Styling this modern day school outfit, I totally felt like a kid again. It was so much fun and it really did bring back those childhood memories. I might not be able to just slap on my uniform anymore, but no one’s taking the kid out of me
