MUST HAVE SUMMER DRESSES

This time last year, I was frolicking around in flowy dresses in the beach towns of Portugal with my best friends. This year, I was supposed to be in the Italian countryside doing just that again. It’s hard to think about how quickly life changes and how this summer is shaping up to look completely different than what I had planned. But I’m a firm believer that there’s a greater plan and that everything happens for a reason. And despite being completely different than what I had originally planned, this summer is shaping up to be incredible

And I still intend on putting on that pretty summer dress and frolicking… it’ll just be in my backyard instead of the Tuscan fields.

If you’re unfamiliar with our MDVP squad, we’re 4 best friends (Vic, Peter, Dave, myself) who, for the past 2 years, have been traveling the world together. We’ve crossed Portugal, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Belize, and so many more off the list. But this year, we’re crossing our backyards and condo-patios off the list together… virtually.

Going 3 months without traveling is one thing, but going 3 months without seeing our crew is another. So we’ve been planning virtual backyard/patio hang outs, happy hours, and socially distanced picnics to make this season go the extra mile.

And being at home more doesn’t mean we have to let our dreams of flowy dresses go. Although I’ve been living in sweats and t-shirts more than ever before, there’s nothing like putting on a pretty dress or floral jumpsuit to make me feel great.

I recently got this gorgeous belted V-Neck maxi shift dress from RW&Co (a proudly Canadian brand – woot!). It’s the perfect throw on and go dress, while still feeling pretty and feminine. The material is super comfy, so it’s great for wearing at home (and giving my sweatpants a break haha). This is the “Snow White Stripes on Beige Portabella Multi” colour, but after having it for a couple of weeks, I’ve convinced that I need the gorgeous floral patterned version.

The long shift dress style is super flattering and can be worn with or without the tie-up belt. It’s got a little slit on the side that allows for movement and the material is perfect for those hot summer days.

RW&Co actually has a ton of super cute summer dresses that I have my eyes on for the at-home patio hangs this season. I’ve rounded up the 8 other dresses that I have my eyes on here and a ton of them are currently on sale:

1. Fit and Flare Yellow Midi Dress, $59.94 | 2. Sleeveless Mini Shift Dress With Shoulder Bow, $77.94 | 3. Wide Leg Jumpsuit With Ruffle Sleeves, $59.94 | 4. Belted V-Neck Shift Maxi, $53.94 | 5. Belted V-Neck Shift Maxi, $53.94 | 6. Sleeve Fit And Flare Shirtdress With Belt, $59.94 | 7. Ruffle Sleeve Fit And Flare Floral Dress, $77.94 | 8. Wrap-Front Sleeveless Jumpsuit, $59.94

Even though our plans may be cancelled, our flights might be postponed, and friend hang outs might be virtual, there’s still so much to look forward to this season. I’m personally excited for the sun, blue skies, bare shoulders, and of course, all of the pretty summer dresses.
