Cozy Transitional Sweater Must Haves

Fall is all about layering. We know that. But when it comes to finding that perfect cozy transitional sweater for layering, it can often be a kerfuffle. Sometimes they’re too thick, sometimes they’re itchy, sometimes they just don’t look right. It can be challenging and Instagram always makes it look all too easy.

I’ve rounded up some of my favourite cozy transitional sweaters, perfect for layering…

And ones that check off all the boxes on your “transitional sweater” shopping list below. I’ve included a good range of ones that might be better for colder weather and some for warmer weather… because LBH, fall’s weather is just as moody as my PMS (Dave – don’t listen to that).

If you’re doing some sweater shopping yourself in store, here are the things I look for when finding the perfect transitional sweaters:

How thick is it?

If you’re planning on wearing the sweater underneath a coat or a blazer, I would bring one with you as you shop, so that you can try it on with your sweater to see if it’ll be versatile across the outfits you’re planning with it.

How warm is it?

Does this matter to you? Are you looking to wear a sweater for its look or for its warm. If that latter, look for sweaters with a tighter weave and ones that aren’t full of loose weaves, or as I like to call it… “hole-y”

Where do the arm holes end?

So many times, I’ve picked up an oversized sweater thinking about all the way it’s going to be cute layered up. Then I get home to realize that because of its bat-wings, it creates an unattractive bulge where my armpits are. Not cute.

Are you looking for a statement sweater? Or a go-with-everything-sweater?

Sometimes those statement sweaters are the sparkliest, most adorned, and catches your attention the quickest… but they aren’t the most versatile for layering.

Now that you’ve got those questions in your arsenal, here are my favourite transitional sweaters I’m eyeing this season. They’re all from one of my favourite go-tos for the season, Le Chateau. I love their sweater collections because they’re almost never itchy and are perfect for layering.

1. Striped Crew Neck Sweater ($59.95) | 2. Bouclé Knit Sweater ($69.95) | 3. Knit Cowl Neck Sweater ($59.95) | 4. Faux Sherpa Sweater Coat ($110.00) | 5. Turtleneck Tunic Sweater ($59.95) | 6. Stripe Knit Turtleneck Sweater ($69.95) | 7. Stripe Rib Knit Crew Neck Sweater ($69.95) | 8. Mock Neck Sweater ($39.95)

With that, I hope you have the coziest of “sweata weathas” and are excited for the toasty and cozy content ahead! I hope you have an inspiring rest of your day, remember that kindness doesn’t cost a thing, and happy sweater-shopping, friends!
