When life presents an opportunity, you gotta take it. WMCFW always gives me the opportune chance to get out of my office and dress up exactly how I feel, no matter how outlandish, crazy, or insane I might end up looking. This year, I did indeed tone it down (bye bye fascinators), but the sentiment of wearing whatever I wanted to was still strong. I woke up on Day 3 feeling the “princess vibe” – and if I had a bigger looking full skirt or tutu in my closet, I definitely would have worn that. Full skirts just have a way of making you feel girly and feminine and I was definitely channeling this. Although… I deeply regretted the bandeau crop when I realized how bone chilling it was outside. Nips out?
Despite the cold, the look was surprisingly comfortable (that airy breeze under the skirt was refreshing… I know you girls know what I’m talking about ). The ever so lovely, Calyssa Pickles, from streetandpepperblog.tumblr.com caught this snap of the beau and I outside the tents and I realized how weirdly coinciding our outfits were. Woot woot for matchy-matchy couple photos! I guess we were going for the Prince and Princess vibe … sequin style (I’m a fan of a man who can pull off sparkles and feminine colors, clearly ). What do you think? ?
Day 3 WMCFW Runway Rehash & My Favs
Day 3 took us all on a bit of a fashion roller coaster. From Atelier Wonder to Mackage, the collections were really, REALLY diverse. Atelier Wonder was quite the interesting show – bringing us into what felt like the Matrix on pop-steroids. It wasn’t bad by any means, although the make up and tone was really aggressive. The collection was consistent, which is a feat to accomplish, considering the business of prints and colors . It felt very Kenzo-esque with the sweaters and prints; and although I probably wouldn’t wearing anything in particular from the collection, I applaud the brand for showing its true colors without fear or shame.
Triarchy is always such a fun show. They take denim and more denim (the ingredients for the perfect Canadian tuxedo) and transform it into a story. They definitely did not fail this season with their “Camp Triarchy” theme. The denim caps and these joggers had me at the very first look they presented down the runway.
Malorie Urbanovitch showcased the effortlessly chic gal in such a beautifully knit (pun intended), somewhat retro, manner. Ironically, the little details are definitely what caught my attention. Her color blocking (something I’m a huge fan of) was also super on point . This neon green plumed dress (both in black and white) was definitely my favourite and had me salivating and screaming “Get on my bodaaay!”.
Hayley Elsaesser‘s collection was true to form, showcasing her unique prints and bold neon colours. They’re adventurous, but in a way that is definitely fashion, and not costume. Although I may not be daring enough yet to try a full look head to toe, I would definitely sport one of these printed pieces with pride.
Easily my favourite show of the season, Mackage, presented a collection that was utterly lust-worthy. There’s just this ora about a Mackage collection that is seamless, luxurious, and ever-so badass. It makes you look at leather, fur, and outerwear, in a completely different light. It’s no wonder why they are a Canadian fashion gem. I just bought two Mackage coats this season (one being the exact same as the one below but with brown fur), but dare I say I want another already?
