There’s a saying in the Instagram community (as weird and perhaps, superficial, as it sounds): “Didn’t make it to the gram”. It’s a saying I’ve heard thrown around, mostly because only the best of the best or the most “Instagrammable” moments, shots, and outfits make it onto the feed. As much as I’m a fan of showing more of our raw and real selves on the platform we’ve come to love, I too fall victim to the ideals of Instagram.
My instinct is to fight this natural inclination, but then I realized that THAT is what Instagram is about. It’s about creating and sharing inspiring moments in life, and that often means the more beautiful side, the more curated perspective, and the more edited moments in life. The juxtaposition still makes me a little squeamish, but I’ve learned to embrace it (especially in this line of work).
Something I’ve noticed that’s come out of it is more creativity and self reflection. I look back on my feed and realize a whole bunch of things about myself that I never would have reflected on.
On a less philosophical note, one of the things I’ve noticed recently is what wardrobe pieces I’ve been sharing the most and what’s been on heavy repeat in my outfits. It’s a pretty obvious and now that I’m pointing them out, I guarantee you, you won’t be able to unsee them:

It’s definitely clear that there are 2 patterns I’m sticking to on Instagram for the summer – mules and a whole lot of red. What can I say, I’m “doing it for the gram”. Ok, enough fo the obnoxious Instagram-lingo. Here’s to summer! I’m embracing it with open arms and hoping that the sunshine continues to beam down on us (on and off the gram).
