AMSTERDAM: Most Instagrammable Spots (Ft. Samsung Galaxy S10e)

Oh, Amsterdam, how you’ve captured my heart. When we booked our flights for Amsterdam, we had no idea how much we would fall in love with the city, and the Netherlands as a whole. Like any trip, we mapped out our itinerary with the most Instagrammable spots highlighted as must-sees; but we had no idea how much we would fall in love with so much more than the beautiful sights. The people, the food, the culture, and the warm Dutch welcome was all a part of why our 7 days in Amsterdam were unforgettable.

Capturing Amsterdam in the moment was one of my goals for the trip… and definitely put my new Samsung Galaxy S10e to the test…

For a lot of the trip, I tried to keep my clunky DLSR camera in my backpack or in the Airbnb. I wanted to see if I could capture my Instagrammable list with just my Samsung Galaxy S10e. After all, it boasts a Pro-Grade Camera with a 123-degree Ultra-Wide angle feature and True Vision mobile camera technology, amongst a ton of other new features that piqued my interest.

Spoiler Alert: this device is more than different, it made a difference in how I experienced Amsterdam.

I wasn’t fumbling for my DSLR or even trying to unlock my phone and capture the moment in time before it passed. The photos were bright, vibrant, and honestly made me feel like I was there again as I looked back at them (this is thanks to the new Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Display). I charged the phone less than I would have needed to charge my camera equipment. And I truly experienced Amsterdam on-the-go, in the moment.

Here’s a round up of personal favourite features of the Samsung Galaxy S10e and why it became my Instagram-bestie on this trip to Amsterdam:

I could go on forever about this camera. The photos are so sharp, crisp, and vibrant and the wide angle feature allows you to capture all the beauty in the frame without feeling the need to crop things out. You can also adjust things like ISO and Aperture in the Pro-Grade setting (mind. blown.) Not to mention, no one gets cut out of a selfie.
This seems like a small feature, but it makes a big impact. The Fingerprint Scanner being moved to the power button where your thumb naturally is when holding your phone means you don’t have to fumble to unlock. It’s also so intuitive and super responsive. When you’re traveling, you want something that’s going to be as easy, smart, and as quick as you are.
The Infinity-O Display is honestly such an incredible viewing experience. The imagery is so bright and vibrant, watching things back makes me feel like I was actually there. Beyond the aspect of consuming content for inspiration on this beautiful display, I find it so much more enjoyable to play back and review the content I create before uploading it. After all, they’re memories you want to relive, right?
I had wanted to look into wireless charging for a while now, but after trying the Wireless Powershare, I can’t imagine going back to wires. Being able to run home, throw my phone on the Samsung Qi Charger Stand, and stay hands free while re-packing or changing outfits is truly god-sent. I must say the battery on the Samsung Galaxy S10e was also incredible. I never had to charge it more than once a day (even with snapping photos and videos every 5 minutes). I even had enough juice leftover to Wireless PowerShare with friends on the go and share the long-battery-life love!

Every single photo below was captured on my Samsung Galaxy S10e and honestly… I’m floored. I also filmed all of my IG Stories from Amsterdam (which you can find in my Amsterdam highlight reel on Instagram) on the Samsung Galaxy S10e, and the video capabilities of this device are just as impressive as the photos.

Without further ado, let’s hit up the most Instagrammable spots in Amsterdam!

In The Sky. There’s nothing more beautiful than the moment you’ve entered a new city.

Everywhere you turn, you’ll find a blossom or a castle-looking building ready for it’s IG debut.
Moco Museum: if you’re into contemporary street art, the Moco Museum will have your gallery filled with IG-worthy shots from Banksy to Kusama.

Pink Cafes A Plenty: Visit Blond Amsterdam for the sweetest treats and an ALL PINK cafe
While we’re on the pink note, drop by Mama Kelly for another all-pink Instagram-worthy shot. Heads up that they don’t allow professional cameras, so my Samsung Galaxy S10e definitely came in clutch.

Check out this wide angle shot of the IG-perfect pink and gold booths at Mama Kelly.

Visit the notorious Rijk Museum for epic shots like the one of their infinite library.

.

You’ll also spot some epic, historic art and relics, like Van Gogh’s self portrait.

Sea Palace: sunsets everyday, everywhere, in Amsterdam are gorgeous, but check out this sunset view from Sea Palace (a floating Chinese restaurant) p.s. check out the low-light feature on this Samsung Galaxy S10e. Mind. Blown.
National Monument: this square is normally packed with people (it’s Amsterdam Centruum’s busiest square), but wake up at sunrise and you’ll get this beauty to yourself, glowing like its highlighter is on massive fleek.
Flower Bike Man: some man decorates these bikes and chains them Amsterdam’s canals. They’re a must-see and make for the cutest IG photo opp.

Sunsets at every canal make for the best IG-shot
If you’re walking around, you’ll be sure to spot houses that aren’t on an IG-map but are the most IG-perfect spot. This casual house with wisteria was one in a handful we walked by.
Mini Homes: right beside Winkel 43, you’ll find this cheeky piece. 2 houses were somehow numbered 54 and 70… so someone built mini Amsterdam homes within the crack between the 2 houses. So much sass, but super iconic.
Keukenhof: you know I couldn’t talk about Amsterdam without mentioning its iconic tulips. We were lucky to be here during Tulip season. The Keukenhof is by far the most popular attraction for tulips. It’s an entire park filled with them (but note that you can’t actually go into the fields)

How vivid are these colours?!

Explore Lisse: a short drive or bike ride from the Keukenhof will have you exploring near by tulip fields and farmers who are friendly and open to having you take photos in their fields. Make sure to be respectful though! These bulbs are their livelihood.

No tulip was left uncaptured thanks to my Samsung Galaxy S10e Ultra-Wide angle camera.

Zaanse Schans: a short drive away from Lisse is the picturesque windmills of Zaanse Schans. This was the vista that inspired Monet’s famous windmill art piece.

The Hague: a day trip to this incredibly important city (it’s one of the locations of the International Court of Justice), means a stop at the Peace Palace (a functioning body of the International legal system)
Museum Voorlinden: while you’re in the Hague, this museum in the middle of a serene estate is filled with thought provoking art from artists like Yayoi Kusama (and also has a ton of experiential art which also makes for incredible IG photos)

.

Museeum Voorlinden: Kusama’s infamous Field of Narcissism

The Hague: end your day at the Pier, where you’ll see tons of Dutch beach lovers challenging even a storm to get their beach on.
Bloemenmarkt: before leaving Amsterdam, you have to visit their flower market. A street parallel to a canal lined with flower vendors. Of course, you can’t bring bulbs or plants back to North America, but check out their silk and faux fleurs. I picked up some pretty epic peonies.
Rainy Days: they make for the most beautiful sunsets. So if you’re caught in Amsterdam in the rain, don’t worry, sunset will make up for it. I caught this on my last day with my Samsung Galaxy S10e and it will forever be one of my favourite travel photos… ever.

All in all, this trip was absolutely breathtaking and I loved the feeling of being able to capture it all so much more in the moment with my Samsung Galaxy S10e.  There was nothing more liberating than truly being able to take time back to soak in all of the sights and let me creativity flow freely. Amsterdam was so much more than I expected and broke all the stereotypes people had set about it.

As the Dutch would say: Danke je, Amsterdam
