Spending the long weekend with my family in Florida really got me thinking…
In our lives, we go through a lot of milestones – we’re born, we’re toddlers, we go to school, we make friends, we experience first loves, we marry (or don’t), we have kids (or don’t), we laugh, we work, and then we lay to rest. It’s cyclical, really. What makes the cycle beautiful though, is the people we share it with. Our families.
And family isn’t limited to just those who share the same blood or those who gave life to you (although that is definitely something to appreciate). It includes anyone in your life you share love with. Of course, you have your close family and your extended family; but either way, family is about love.
Family memories are not always peachy. There are a lot of struggles, growing pains, and tears that go along with building a bond like “family”. Every piece of, albeit old and outdated, furniture in my house brings back a memory. Although they’re not all sunshine and rainbows, they’re memories that have crafted me into the person I am today. And although the people are what make memories, not things, your surroundings and environment are a big part of how you grew up feeling.
If you haven’t seen it already, I did a room makeover with Artemano. I transformed a vacant room in our house into an inspiration haven.
