On an otherwise average Thursday afternoon, Dave and I stopped by one of our home shopping malls, Scarborough Town Centre to pick up a few things… and stumbled upon THIS. Scarborough Town Centre has always been a huge supporter of Dave and my creative work, but their very own creative work inspires awe in their own right as well.
Scarborough Town Centre is home to so many retailers I love all in one spot and they’re always finding incredible pop ups to keep their property fresh and exciting. This Lunar New Year set up, smack dab in their Centre Court, is an example of this incredible freshness and creativity. The mall and surrounding Scarborough area in Toronto is home to so many individuals from Asian descent, it makes sense that they would create an epic set up to celebrate Lunar New Year… but this is just next level.
Beyond the incredible 2 level cherry-blossom set up, they’ve included so much to help celebrate the joyous season… so much so, that I might have just lured my mom in to visit it with me. In case you’re looking to learn more about Lunar New Year or if you’re looking for something to do over the weekend, here are all the details you need to know and why this it’s the spot you want to check out to celebrate.

Lion Dancing
Every Saturday and Sunday leading up to Lunar New Year, Scarborough Town Centre has live lion dances happening in their Centre Court. They happen at 12PM EST and at 3PM EST. They’ll also be adding 2 performances to the line up on February 4th (New Year’s Eve) and 5th (New Year’s Day). If you’ve ever wanted to catch a live lion dance, this is your chance!
Make a Lunar New Year Wish
Not only is this lattern-adorned set beautiful, but it’s meaningful too. Each of the ribbons that create the beautiful archway is actually a wish written on a piece of ribbon. You stop by the booth to the side of the set up to grab your ribbon, write your wish, and you tie it on the archway. Such a beautiful way of bringing fortune together in one place.
Grab a Lei See
These are those red packets you always see around during Lunar New Year. Scarborough Town Centre is giving them out by the set up as well. No commitments, just a packet of love back to the people of its community.
Gift Card Promotion
During this time period, Scarborough Town Centre is also offering a free $25 Gift Card with a purchase of a minimum $500 gift card purchase. If you’re looking to pick up a bunch of things anyhow, this is a little gift back to you to celebrate the season.
