NYC: LAUNCHING THE LINCOLN AVIATOR

New york, new york! This month, Dave and I had the incredible opportunity of hitting the road again with our friends at Lincoln to none other than iconic New York City. The trip was to celebrate their official launch of the Lincoln Aviator, their new act in their brilliant portfolio of cars.

My Relationship With Cars

Rewind back a good decade or so and I was an eager 16 year old, ready to get on the road. I drove for about 3-5 hours a day between school and visiting Dave, so needless to say, I was an avid driver. I didn’t care so much about what I was driving, but rather how it got me places.

Bumpy and basic was totally acceptable.

Now that Dave and I have built this beautiful home and life together though, we’ve definitely taken a bigger interest in what cars we invest in and what makes the most sense. For example, Dave’s 2 door sports car might not be the best choice for us given our Centurian Toronto home sports 1 parking spot and requires us to buy a lot of home improvement gear.
Dave, a stereotypical “boy”, as one would call it, has always been into cars, their mechanics, and their details. But I find myself becoming more and more interested in cars nowadays, as we continue to plan our life, our home, and what lifestyle we want to lead.

NYC

New York City is never a bad idea. Having spent a ton of my childhood and too many trips to count in New York city, I can firmly say it’s one of my favourite cities in the world.

Every corner has a cute building with history, the energy of the streets is infectious, and there’s a never ending flow of boroughs to explore.

Although short and sweet, our 3 days in New York City was full of exploration and a few highlights too good not to mention:

Strand Bookstore

I had been meaning to check out this infamous book store for years! Dave and I happened to stumble onto it by accident on some of our free time aimlessly wandering the city. $1 books, a never ending library inside, and an array of coffee table books that will make you want to purchase a suitcase allowance just to bring them home.

Soho

What trip to New York is complete without a stroll through Soho. Although much more commercialized now, it’s still one of the prettiest areas in New York City (and obviously one of the most Instagrammable).

Eats

Between our stay and meals at the Park Hyatt (truffle pasta – yes please!) and the most decadent of meals at Quality Italian (yes, that’s the name of the restaurant), we were definitely well fed.

Phantom Of The Opera

By far the highlight of our trip was being able to see a broadway show, courtesy of our Lincoln family. 4 rows from the front and a classic that makes you heart melt – it will remain at the top of Dave and my epic date nights for years to come.

Lincoln Aviator Launch

And it could not have been more fitting that, alongside exploring the city that never sleeps, we also had the opportunity to explore the all new Lincoln Aviator that they officially launched at the New York Auto Show while we were there. This car was made for a smart city slicker (we might just be throwing ourselves into that category haha)

Lincoln cars have been aspirational vehicles for Dave and I for years. They are the epitome of classic luxury. And as we’ve witnessed their portfolio grow over the past couple years, their move towards beauty, elegance, and exceptional experiences is undeniable.

Their all new Aviator is completely in line with this philosophy. The Lincoln Aviator is (surprisingly) a three-row, plug-in hybrid SUV that also totes a new “smartphone as a key” capability, wireless phone charging, and their renowned 30-way adjustable seats (with massage). Need I say more?
Having seen some images of their previous “Aviators”, I wasn’t sure I’d like the car. SUVs have always felt aggressive to me (but admittedly, adulting, renovations, and even just groceries have me leaning towards one). I was pleasantly surprised when they finally unveiled the Lincoln Aviator though. The graceful lines and elegant presence, coupled with its impressive size totally won me over.

The Aviator is also equipped with some fancy features like their Co-Pilot 360, Reverse Brake Assist, forward road scanning camera, and impressive Powertrain; but for me, it’s about convenience. The ability to seat 3 rows of people, lug around renovation materials, bring Simba to the groomer, and road-trip with ease and comfort is what I look for.

Needless to say, I’m flying right into love with the new Lincoln Aviator.

The Lincoln Aviator officially launches into sale next year, but Dave and I were so honoured to be able to be a part of the launch and celebration.

A big thank you to our Lincoln family for showing us an amazing time, and always, inspiring us to travel in luxury and style. We can’t wait to take the Aviator out for flight!
