WHISTLER TRAVEL DIARY: LUXURY UNCOVERED

There are trips you go on to see the world and there are trips you go on to experience it. It might sound like the same thing to you, but I assure you it’s not. Don’t get me wrong, every trip is a blessing and seeing just an inch of a new place gets my blood going. But when and if you get the opportunity… the trips where you’re not stressed out to do this or that, nor worried about what this will cost or whether it’ll fit into your itinerary… those are the trips that make you feel utterly and truly alive.

Whistler Travel Diary

Dave and I had the incredible luxury (quite literally) of going on a trip with Lincoln Canada a couple weeks ago. We landed in Vancouver, took our Lincoln Continental up to Whistler, and spent 4 days just enjoying life. There is no other way I could properly describe the experience beyond pure life enjoyment. Everything was immaculately planned by their team, perfected to a T, and allowed Dave and I to focus on just being. It’s a strange sensation.

Of course, we had to document it so that we could bring you all along with us. So here’s the highlight reel, plus an extra special sneak peek into what it’s like to drive the Lincoln Continental

STOP 1

HELLO VANCOUVER

Whistler Travel Diary

We landed in Vancouver on Thursday night. We caught the sunset, so naturally Dave was glued to the window seat for a good hour. We landed safe and sound; and if you’ve ever been to Vancouver, you’ll know that the moment you step off the plane, it’s like you’re breathing fresh air for the first time in your life.

We were greeted by our driver – in a Lincoln, naturally – and was taken to the beautiful Pan Pacific Hotel. If you’re thinking, is this what’s it’s like to feel like a princess? The answer is yes. It was topped off with late night room service, breakfast by the bay-facing windows, and a relaxing night of cuddles.

See what I mean? Princess vibes.

DRIVE ON THE SEA TO SKY HIGHWAY

The next morning, we got the keys to our new friend: the sleekest, sexiest piece of machinery I’ve driven thus far – the new 2017 Lincoln Continental. We embarked on our journey up the mountains.

Whistler Travel Diary

If you’ve ever driven to Whistler from Vancouver, you’ll know it’s hands-down one of the most beautiful and most enjoyable drives you’ll ever make. The winding roads lead you up and down the mountains, around the water, through valleys, and leaves you utterly in awe at the magnificence of the world. You might want to alternate drivers so that you both get to enjoy the views. That’s what Dave and I did at least.

Along the way, you’ve got view points along the way to park the car at, get out, and fully take in the views. The comfort of the Lincoln made it all so much better though – with plush leather seats, great tunes, massage chairs – I basically felt like a princess being chauffeured to her chalet… which is basically what happened

STOP 3

NITA LAKE LODGE

We arrived at Nita Lake Lodge, which is perfectly nestled beside a lake and directly across from one of the ski hills. Its vibe was cozy, unpretentious, and warm – literally, there was fireplace in our bedroom. We valeted our baby (the Lincoln Continental) and spent time relaxing in the room before heading out to the Scandinave Spa.

Sadly, the spa didn’t allow images/photography, so nothing to document too much there. What I can note though, is that every time we would call for our car or got to anywhere new, the spa included, people would stop and stare – not at Dave and I, but at our car. A couple people actually came up to us to ask us if they could sit in it emoji

STOP 4

ALTA BISTRO + BEARFOOT BISTRO

Whistler Travel Diary Whistler Travel Diary

Everything about our dining experience felt extremely luxurious. Both meals had a strong Canadian flare to it. At Bearfoot Bistro, we had the opportunity to learn how to saber a bottle of champagne, learn about the history of champagne sabering (which the owner of the Bistro holds the world record for), and got to experience the full chef’s tasting menu.

HELICOPTER ICE CAVE TOUR

Whistler Travel Diary

Probably the highlight of our trip, we spent our last day in Whistler embarking on a helicopter adventure into the remote ice caves of Whistler. The experience was absolutely indescribable. The helicopter departed with us and a guide and flew through the valleys and mountains of the area. It then dropped us off on top of the glacier (literally in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but snow and mountains in sight). We had to dig our way through to the ice caves, we had no signal, and it was deafeningly silent. The earth’s true magnificence in all of its grandeur.

The ice caves were incredible. There aren’t any words to describe how breathtaking something this large is. It reminds you how much bigger the world is, how minute your problems are, and how much beauty there is in the world amidst its chaos.
It was pure luxury to be able to experience it.

LINCOLN CONTINENTAL

THE ULTIMATE TRAVEL GUIDE

The Lincoln Continental was the perfect car to match this luxurious adventure. Normally when I go on road trips, I just can’t wait to get out of the car and get to the destination, but not this time. There are so many things I love about it, but I’ll give you the highlights. If you get the opportunity to test or drive this gorgeous piece of machinery… don’t hesitate.

Aesthetics and Comfort

The seat itself screams luxurious comfort. It has 30 ways of movement so you can perfectly customize it to your body. It literally cradles you. There’s also heating, cooling, and a massage feature to the chairs (yes, you read that correctly… it has a built in massage feature). All of this made driving (or, even better, being a passenger in) this car that much more amazing.

The car also has this fancy “Dynamic Torque Vectoring”, which I know nothing about but makes driving so much fun. It handles corners at high speeds really smooth and maintains that luxurious comfort while doing so. I should know, Dave was enjoying the twist and turns of the Sea To Sky highway a little too much.

Luxurious Space

I sat both in the back and the front of the car throughout the trip and I have to say, I could probably comfortably live in the Lincoln. The amount of leg room in the front and in the back makes you realize why this car was known for luxury. It made outfit changes along the road that much more convenient and comfortable!

Tunes & Gadgets For Every Mood

It seemed that every little detail of this car was purposeful. From the lights (that turn purple in the dark) or the “Welcome Lighting”, which lights up the ground with “Lincoln” on the floor as you get close, this car is an extension of a luxurious lifestyle. It’s also got a panoramic roof for you to stargaze with.
As for the tech, it’s got Hands-Free Sync 3 (which is voice activated – so cool), an audio system called Revel that literally feels like you’re in a home studio, and a 360 degree camera (for parking noobs like me).

All together this trip was everything and more than I could have planned myself. It was pure luxury at its finest. And you realize that fancy gadgets and expensive dinner aside, the luxury of a trip isn’t about what you do, but it’s the people you’re with and the ease of living you get to experience. And that’s exactly what we got to do.
